What will you be doing?
General operatives are involved in a range of practical tasks on a construction site, working on projects from the delivery of site materials, general installation through to completion of works. This includes preparing the site ahead of work taking place and carrying out manual work whilst a project is in progress. General operatives complete a wide variety of tasks, ranging from labouring, moving and unloading materials and operating machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Helping skilled tradespeople with every aspect of the building process
- Being involved in projects from start to finish
- Following all health and safety procedures
- Marking out the area for the site using string lines and putting up barriers and safety signs
- Operating hand machinery such as drills, pumps and compressors
- Operating machinery such as excavators and dumper truckers
- Working outdoors in all weathers.
- Keep up to date with current legislation and industry trends.
