The successful Trainee Traffic Maintenance Engineer will join a talented team of Traffic Signals specialists. As a Trainee Traffic Maintenance Engineer, you will work closely with one of our experienced Traffic Engineers to troubleshoot, fix, maintain, and test a range of Traffic Signals / Traffic Lights and electrical equipment that is associated with this covering south of the river Thames and to the bottom of the M25 in London. This role is to work 12 hour Shifts 4 on / 4 off Days & Nights.
What you’ll do:
- Learn to carry out maintenance of traffic signals and associated equipment and commissioning of traffic signal equipment
- Ensure test equipment, PPE and Vehicle are all compliant with up-to-date certification as required
- Ensure works are completed in accordance with site specifications
- Complete maintenance in line with agreed schedules and SLA’s under supervision
- Carry out on site risk assessments and follow method statements
- Attend Team brief / Toolbox talks as required
- Learn to carry out Site Acceptance Tests with Clients (basic sites)
Who you are:
You will naturally have an interest in troubleshooting, fixing, testing and maintaining Electrical equipment, and already have some exposure to anything electrical – whether that’s working with outdoor lighting, CCTV, controllers, detection boxes or you’ve had some experience via a College related electrical course/Diploma.
Key Requirements:
- Motivation and willingness to learn on the job and via online learning
- Previous experience of Electrical testing, maintenance, fixing or installing, or a holder of an Electrical course / diploma or similar
- Ability to problem solve and providing ideas – ultimately the job requires you to think outside the box, and working through “fault finding instructions”
- Full UK Driving Licence holder
- Able to and willing to undertake a Drugs & Alcohol test to ensure compliancy
