Where will you be working?
At M Group, we’re enabling the essential infrastructure that supports our lives. We provide an end-to-end service across water, energy, transport and telecommunications, delivering specialist solutions that keep the UK and Ireland moving.
This role is an Apprenticeship Programme within our Plant & Fleet Solutions team, supporting our compliance and service team based in Castleford. You will work alongside experienced technicians, gaining hands‑on experience while completing a Level 3 Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle) qualification over a 36‑month programme.

What will you be doing?
- Carrying out routine maintenance, servicing and safety checks on a wide range of vehicles and equipment
- Assisting with diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults under supervision
- Supporting minor and major repair activities, ensuring all work meets safety and quality standards
- Using a PDA device to complete electronic job records, ensuring accurate and up‑to‑date documentation
- Working closely with workshop colleagues to plan tasks, share information and support efficient workflow
- Learning to interpret technical manuals, service schedules and diagnostic information • Ensuring all work is completed in line with M Group Services Plant & Fleet Solutions Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) procedures
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workshop environment
- Developing practical engineering skills through hands‑on experience and structured training
- Supporting compliance activities, inspections and equipment checks as required

- GCSEs in Maths & English (grades 3-9 or above) or equivalent Functional Skills

Apprenticeship Development Scheme (ADS);
- A blend of online and face‑to‑face sessions
- Focus on soft skills development and mental health/pastoral support
- Some residential elements within England
- All travel, accommodation and meals fully funded during training
- Time spent both with the training provider and under supervision on site
Hourly Rates (based on age):
Apprentices (First Year): £8.00 per hour (under 19s and 19+ in their first year).
Age 19+ (After Year 1): Will receive the National Minimum/Living Wage for their age, which is £10.85 (18-20) or £12.71 (21+) from April 2026.
